چکیده

Abstract Background Chlorhexidine is a widely used disinfectant in clinical settings and broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent effective against aerobic anaerobic bacteria. However, resistant or non-susceptible bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, have been found. This study aimed to develop new technique prevent control A. baumannii infection the hospital setting. Methods combined with minocycline, doxycycline, meropenem, imipenem, levofloxacin ciprofloxacin were tested 30 multidrug-resistant extremely drug-resistant isolates. The checkerboard test was calculate fractional inhibitory concentration index according minimum value for chlorhexidine antibiotics. Results combination of showed synergistic responses all isolates, more than 50% isolates FICI ?0.5. together imipenem indifferent 10% 3.33% respectively. In tests, combinations each above six antibiotics additive effects, inhibited Conclusions We concluded that, could be risk .

In vitro activity of tigecycline against multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.

This survey was conducted to evaluate the in vitro activity of tigecycline against 50 isolates of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii. Isolates of A. baumannii were resistant to ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol, imipenem, levofloxacin, piperacillin and piperacillin-tazobactam, but were always susceptible to colistin. MICs of tigecycline were determined by E-test in Mueller-Hinton ag...

In vitro activity of minocycline alone or in combination in multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii isolates.

Minocycline (MIN) usually shows good activity against Acinetobacter baumannii strains. The reintroduction to the market of intravenous MIN provides an additional agent to the limited options for the treatment of A. baumannii infections. The activity of MIN as a single agent and in combination with rifampicin (RIF), colistin (COL) or imipenem (IMI) was evaluated by means of killing curves and 24...

Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii

To understand the epidemiology of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii and define individual risk factors for multidrug resistance, we used epidemiologic methods, performed organism typing by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), and conducted a matched case-control retrospective study. We investigated 118 patients, on 27 wards in Israel, in whom MDR A. baumannii was isolated fr...
